Student Societies
Currently almost 50% of students at Lancaster University are members of a Society. There are between 70 and 80 societies registered with LUSU and you have the choice of all of them!
Societies offer the opportunity for you to learn new skills, meet like-minded people, make lots of friends and generally have a great time.
How do I get involved
When do they meet during term
Societies generally meet every week or so, we've compiled a schedule of when many of the societies meet (They often meet at other times as well so contact them them on their email before turfing up). You can get their emails from the society list along with website details and a little bit of info to make sure they're right for you.
At the beginning of every year every society has a stall at Freshers Fair and will be more then happy and enthusiastic to answer your questions and convince you they are the society for you to join!
If you can't wait until Freshers' Fair or its part way through the academic year and you are not sure how to join have a look at the list of Societies on offer. If you see one you like have a look around their web page or contact one of the exec.
If there isn't a link pop into the Student Activities Office and leave a message for the Society in their pigeonhole.
Not got what you're looking for?
There should be something for everyone but if you can't see a society you want to join why not start one up yourself? Have a look at the Setting Up a Society section or alternatively pop into the Student Activities Department in LUSU to discuss your idea.
