Tame Impala drummer Julien Barbagallo will be heading to Manchester this Tuesday (13th February) to preview his new album ‘Danse Dans Les Ailleurs’ (Dance in Other Worlds), which is due to be released on 2nd March via Sony Music France / Arista, as a follow-up to 2016’s Grand Chien after he spent the summer recording this nine-track wonder.

The album is a collection of wildly psychedelic tunes, with Barbagallo singing in his native language, French. So far, we’ve been given a glimpse of this intriguing new record in the form of the dreamy, vibrant music video for ‘L’échappée’ (The Breakaway), which was premiered by Pitchfork and features scenes of blistering hot deserts, crashing waves and French cityscapes.

The director of the video, Romain Winkler, added: “I’ve tried to imagine a visual and scenographic device that would embody ‘L’échappée’. I wanted to create the great escape Julien sings about, to make it visible in response to the music and singing. Without directly illustrating the words, but by proposing a strong filmic interpretation of what the song conveys.”
