A local smoothie café opened its doors to students in Alexandra Square in week 1.
Juicafe, the latest edition to the university’s array of independent catering establishments, is based on Market Street and is a popular destination for students and locals alike, hosting Trading Card Games evenings and tournaments on some weeknights. Alexandra Square is the cafe’s third local venue; as well as Juicafe on Market Street, they also run Final Whistle Cafe at UCLAN Sports Arena. can be found alongside Greggs, the hairdresser’s and Wallings Ice Cream.
In 2014, Juicafe won the British Smoothie Championship for their range of healthy fresh fruit smoothies. Although famed for their fruit smoothies, the café also offers milkshakes, chocolate bar shakes, and soup. However, students hoping to fill their ‘five-a-day’ quota of fruit and vegetables in one smoothie must be warned; the NHS stipulates that smoothies can only count for 2 of your daily portions.
