The Festival Edit

Loading

The festival ticket has been purchased and you are ready to escape the 9-5 library routine for some much deserved freedom. Whilst we’ve already swooned over the outfits that were paraded around Coachella, it is now finally time to start planning and purchasing our own festival attire, ready for the season ahead. Inspired by the festival go-ers at Coachella, here are three simple items that can help you to be well prepared for a day, weekend or week of letting your hair down whilst appreciating some of your favourite artists.

The kimono

If there is anything that is a must have for the festival scene, it is the kimono.  This dark horse has slowly been creeping into the circuit, with its lightweight material, allowing you to say goodbye to those waterproof ponchos- finally! It allows you to experiment with that hippy vibe, Vanessa Hudgens made heads turn at Coachella in hers. The kimono comes in a variety of prints, from bohemian folk to floral, in a longline style or in a shorter cut coupled with a mass of tassels. It doesn’t matter what your style is, whether you opt for the denim shorts and  band tee ensemble or if you are a swing dress sort of girl, just throw the kimono over the top and you are good to go – just don’t forget your ticket!

The summer steal

The playsuit has taken a backseat whilst the co-ord has been stealing its thunder, making it a summer essential. Whilst some may save the co-ord only for a summer holiday, others find it a great option to wear whilst dancing to the beat of their favourite musician. Taking inspiration from Queen Bey, choose a tropical print to keep this piece up to date and couple it with your trusty festival accessory, the fedora, to instantly inject boho chic.

The ultimate uniform

So, you are coming to your last day of the weekend or week and your dry shampoo is starting to run out and everyone is feeling a little bit worse for wear, so all you want to do is get into something comfortable. This is where the denim shorts with our favourite logo or band tee come forward. This is the uniform that we have seen for decades now, the ultimate cool and effortless look that anyone can achieve for this scene. Easy to put on, easy on our bank balance and it makes the last day easy to enjoy. Simple.

Word to the wise, a festival is somewhere that you want to feel comfortable, where you want outfits that allow you to move in, not restrict you, so try steer clear of anything and everything bodycon. Lastly, tie everything together with accessories galore and if Vanessa Hudgen’s style is still in the forefront of your mind, why not add some body jewels in the form of a bindi?
