Summer in Sydney

For the adventurous ones out there, or for anyone that wants to get as far away from home as possible this summer, then I have the perfect getawa: Sydney. Yes, alarms bells will be ringing, but believe me, if you save the pennies, the pounds will look after themselves, so get yourself out there. It is the most amazing city I have ever been to and after a week of being there I literally did not want to come home.

The Australians definitely know how to live. The atmosphere was so different, you didn’t even feel like you were in a city; it was so chilled out and relaxed. There are so many amazing things to see and do in Sydney itself, and these are my favourites:

1. The Opera House and Harbour Bridge
The Opera House is a MUST, along with the Harbour Bridge, where you can walk across the very top (though for us sane people walking across it is just as much an experience!) Already, you can tick off that you will have been next to the two most photographed icons on earth.

2. Manly
If you fancy a change from the big city then there are ferries every few minutes taking you to Manly, home to the famous beach and small shopping town.

3. Taronga Zoo
Taronga Zoo is also a must it is filled with gorgeous and rare animals that you just could not see anywhere else.

That’s aside from all the bars, restaurants and fabulous shopping areas in Sydney itself. I went to Sydney at the end of August/beginning of September during 2012 and although this is supposed to be their winter, the sun was shining and it was perfect for a stroll round the harbour.

There really is something for everyone in Sydney and even if you only go once, make sure you go. You won’t want to come home.
