On Wednesday, Week Nine, a protest in objection to the rise in fees was held, beginning in Dalton Square and ending in the city centre.

Approximately 50 people were present at the protest which began at 12pm, including members from Lancaster University, Cumbria University, local Further Education colleges and Lancaster University representatives from the University and Colleges Union.

At 12.30pm, the protest moved to Market Square, where the market was being held, meaning the city centre was busy, packed with a mixture of Christmas shoppers and keen protesters.

LUSU President Robbie Pickles made a speech regarding fees, as did the University of Cumbria Representation Sabbatical, Martin Dodd. There was also some support from the public, amongst some scepticism.

LUSU VP of Media and Communications, Lizzie Houghton was also present at the protest and lead chanting to encourage involvement.

The protest ended at about 1.30pm.
